Platelet Rich Plasma

PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy is what we are known for at Pure Dermatology Cosmetic & Hair Center! We are the leading hair clinic in Southern California for hair loss! PRP is a three-step treatment where we draw your blood on the day of the treatment, spin your red blood cells in our centrifuge and then collect the Platelet Rich Plasma that is then injected back into your scalp. Think of PRP as a stimulator to help decrease inflammation and increase circulation, which is what is needed to help with overall hair growth. PRP is an excellent choice for patients experiencing generalized hair loss or hair thinning.

FUE/FUT Hair Transplant

At Pure Dermatology Cosmetic & Hair center, not only do we offer PRP for hair loss but we cover all grounds for hair restoration including Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) to men and women seeking a solution for density.
This minimally invasive outpatient procedure extracts follicles one by one. The back of the head is used as a donor site, as it helps minimize discomfort and genetically this is where hair grows the best. Each follicle may contain 2 to 4 hairs and is separated into units. These units are then inserted in an area where the hair is thinning or bald via a small incision. To achieve a natural look from your transplant depends on many factors, such as anterior hairline design, good density, the direction of implantation, use of appropriate follicular units in each location.

Generally each follicle contains 2-4 hairs and is then separated into units. Typically Dr. Nader Ronaghi can get thousands of hairs placed during one treatment session.

As each follicle unit is extracted, it will be placed in a special solution. This solution extends the life of the graft outside the body and will help enhance the survival of the graft once it is inserted.

Newport Hair Clinic uses implanters to help with the placement of each follicle. This will help increase the survival rate of each follicular unit.

It allows for a more precise placement by ensuring accurate direction, depth and angle all reach their correct location.

One session can take up to four hours or more. Some patients may require more than one treatment to achieve a full head of hair. It will highly depend on the finishing results that you desire.

Topical Treatments

If you are looking for Topical treatments, for hair loss we have options for you! Dr. Mehr goes over all options for hair loss and the benefits of each. Minoxidil (Rogaine), is a popular treatment option for some patients. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of both male and female hair loss over the course of use. With the use of Minoxidil, almost all patients report an overall reduction in their hair loss. At our office, we work with a specialized compound pharmacy that compounds a high percentage of Minoxidil, making it a higher strength than what you can find over the counter.

Oral Therapy

Similar to the topical Minoxidil treatment, we also recommend it orally. We prescribe it in small doses so the side effects are pretty minimal. Nutrafol hair supplements are also another great option to help with the health of your hair! With key ingredients such as Ashgawanda root that is clinically proven to help with stress levels, Saw Palmetto promotes hair growth by helping reduce DHT, a hormone that shrinks hair follicles and leads to progressive hair thinning, Marine Collagen Peptides that help build a healthy building block for the scalp and much more! Last but not least, we prescribe Finasteride, another oral treatment, only available to men with a prescription, is. Although, it has been shown to be highly effective in slowing the progression of male pattern baldness, it can also decrease libido and should therefore be thoroughly discussed with your doctor before commencing treatment

Botox/Xeomin to scalp

Botox or Xeomin to the scalp helps with one main type of hair loss called: Androgenetic Alopecia. This type of hair loss is genetically derived and happens in both males and females. You will notice that with this hair loss, most patients have thinning in the temporal region. The Nueromodulator (Botox or Xeomin) has been proven to help with relaxing the scalp muscle to enhance blood flow and circulation allowing the hairs to grow more effectively. Most patients only need to repeat this treatment every 6 months. We also recommend doing PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) intermittently with your Botox/ Xeomin treatment for optimal results.
